The world likes to complain about our weather in Minnesota. We are portrayed as a frozen ice cube. The world outside our state wonders how we can live here. The month of September is an example of why we live here. The temps have been wonderful, the days dry and warm and evenings cool, and the colors are just starting to blaze. Please, don't tell anyone how nice it really is here. We don't want to experience the rush like Arizona and Oregon experienced.
I don't find that we take our weather for granted. Each day we wake up to see what is in store for us. The people in Northern Minnesota need cooler weather so the fish bite better. Central Minnesota is back in a draught and needs rain so badly. Southern Minnesota appears to be doing okay and the crops most likely will be okay. We are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. All we can do is appreciate what we have today.
San Diego might have blue sunny skies, but they have their own problems. We might fight cold and ice, but we have our tatter tot casseroles to warm our bodies. The Southwest might have warm winters and golfing every day. We have frozen lakes and ice fishing. The South might have the ocean and sandy beaches, but we have ski slopes and snow to fall into to make snow angles.
Get out there and love these days. The other shoe is going to drop.
