The Twins Tuesday night demonstrated that one should never give up. They are a team from a small market who have had an up and down year. They have been chasing the Tigers all season. I felt it would take the flu spreading through the Tigers for the Twins to take the division. What do I know? After 12 innings the team took the Tigers. They won not with their big hitters, those were being walked, but by players who knew their job was not to let the team down. The winning pitcher is a guy I can't even name. It was a simple hit that brought in the win, not a home run.
After the Philippines got hit by wind and water and buildings collapsed, survivors were found under rubble. They gave the thumbs up, for they had lived!
Sellers will tell me they want to give up. They feel they can't sell their home. They say this is not the environment to sell. When is that right environment? Now is the right time. I need to be like the manager of a team, call the right plays and give the players back their spirit. As I list expired houses, I am often called in because I am known as a listing agent, I tell sellers I won't allow them to give up. They need to face what is in front of them and succeed. It usually means making some improvements to the property, staging, reducing the price, getting professional pictures, and positioning on the internet. I need to keep good vibes on a house, as I swear buyers know when those vibes are not positive. A house needs warmth, color, love, and honesty to attack a buyer. If you do it right the buyer will come.
I wonder if I were buried under a building if I could will myself to live. I think I would. I honestly feel I can muster strength when no one is there to give me strength. That is what I try to give sellers. They can find their own strength and bring their own victory. It is the not giving up that makes the difference.
