We are getting alerts every 15 minutes about the snow storm coming from the west. Flagstaff got some 20 inches. The plains are getting snow and blowing. It is all coming our way. STOP. Minneapolis is a metropolitan area with many buildings to stop this constant blowing. We have snow plows that get on the road almost as the snow starts falling. Do not go into a panic mode.
What we do need is to use common sense. We don't need to go to the grocery store and buy gallons of milk. This will all pass in 24 hours. We do need to drive slowly and give one another space. Four wheel drive vehicles do not mean one can fly through snow and ice. Put in a good CD, let the traffic inch along , tell your loved ones you will be late, and let the snow fall on your wind shield. Yield to the plows and get mentally prepared to physically heave the shovel.
Get this, this is just the start of winter. Minneapolis is a winter city and there will be more snow and cold. The good news is that November had no snow and no real cold. We cheated winter out of one month. We will get on our skates and skies. Our sleds will go down the hills. People will ice fish. Kids will make snowmen and snow angels and all of us of all ages will bundle up and laugh winter in the face.
